We built the STÆDIUM store for strength gaming legends

It’s not every day that you get an opportunity to be a part of history. With Freeletics and their revolutionary idea of strength gaming, we got just that.

Freeletics is Europe’s leading AI-powered fitness and lifestyle coaching brand. While their popular platform offers digital coaching for fitness, Freeletics wanted to introduce the world to a far more exciting take on body strength training at home.

If you’ve hit the gym, you’ll know that conditioning your muscles to increase strength through weight training, while rewarding, can soon get repetitive and monotonous. This is one of the primary reasons people get easily demotivated when it comes to body strength training.

Freeletics decided to tackle this problem head on by taking a gamified approach to fitness. Enter Staedium, our new project with Freeletics!

A brand new way to destroy boring

Staedium elevates the standard workout regime and places it in a competitive playing field through gamification, a.k.a strength gaming. It combines smart training equipment with motion tracking, sports-science, and competitive ‘races’ to make strength training effective, engaging, and a whole lot of fun.

For the launch of their new brand, Freeletics needed:

  • A teaser website for the product launch announcement
  • A dynamic e-commerce store powered by Shopify Plus
  • A team of dedicated experts who could deliver these on a stringent timeline

Freeletics approached us with a super tight deadline, and our team was more than happy to take up the challenge and deliver it in under 8 weeks.

Here’s how our all-star team rose up to the challenge.

An agile approach to delivery

Since this was a time-critical requirement, our Project Management team decided to take an agile approach to deliver in-progress designs and developed pages. To facilitate this, we created:

  • A concise and structured project roadmap
  • Sprint plans with assigned stakeholders and feedback loops
  • Forecasting and estimations to maintain project efficiency
  • Query tracker for real-time communication and prioritization
  • Daily and weekly standup calls for status updates

Since our team anticipated real-time shifts in the priority of our requirements, we continually assessed our project plan on a daily basis to accommodate new changes.

Designing Components & Sections

Freeletics had well-defined visual guidelines for Staedium when they approached us.

Since the project was time-sensitive, our design team quickly adapted to the existing design system to help their team extrapolate ideas, sections and components in their existing pages with minimal effort.

Building on the existing design system simplified the handover process to our developers.

Dynamic Teaser Website

Freeletics has 50M+ users worldwide, and their team wanted to break the news of their upcoming brand launch with a stylish teaser website. And we got to work!

We decided to release the teaser website in stages, across multiple sprints. As part of the teaser site, we had to handle some custom requirements:

  • Custom product page development with modular sections
  • App integration for multi-language and multi-currency features
  • Brand customizations for the language and currency picker
  • App integration for Staedium’s referral and affiliate program

After rigorous testing, our team delivered the final build of the store.

To ensure a seamless handover, our Shopify and DevOps teams were on standby to resolve any issues on priority, and support the Freeletics team during the complete brand launch.

Shopify plus development

In our next phase, we built a Shopify Plus store with a custom product page that was designed to capture the essence and dynamism of strength gaming.

Our agile team completed this task in under 3 weeks.

As part of our development cycle, the store setup involved:

  • Custom product page development with modular sections
  • App integration for multi-language and multi-currency features
  • Brand customizations for the language and currency picker
  • App integration for Staedium’s referral and affiliate program

After rigorous testing, we delivered the final build of the store.

For a seamless handover, our Shopify and DevOps teams were on standby to resolve issues on priority.

Testimonial

“We searched for an agency who can deliver fast and is experienced with Shopify. It was great to see the agency's flexibility. We really liked how Coderapper solved the issue with deposit and pre-orders with increasing price steps, which was a complex case.”
